Where did BJ
Hickman get the ingredients for this new
professional development presentation?
He combined his undergraduate major in Psychology and
concentration in Communications from Keene State College; his
postgraduate
personality development, advertising, marketing, business, sales, and
management
skills from 21 years in the radio broadcasting profession; and his
inherent
passion for entertaining, motivating, and educating with magic, humor,
and
curiosities, to become a professional educational speaker.
BJ
Hickman is credited as having performed 5,000 magic shows
for an estimated 500,000 people. Known as the entertainer who keeps
getting
invited back, he has performed from FirstNight Boston to Hollywood’s
Magic
Castle. In elementary schools throughout New England, his success with
enrichment programs in Reading, Conflict Resolution, Recycling, and
Safety
illustrates the effectiveness of using magic, humor, and entertainment
to
motivate and educate children.
Since
the release of three instructional videos on magic
(highly recommended by the leading magic periodicals), BJ is often
engaged to
lecture to fellow magicians and variety artists about the business of
entertaining and educating children. He does individual consultations
and has
lectured at various magic clubs, magic shops, conferences and
conventions
including:
q
International Festival of Children's Magicians, Orlando, FL.
q KIDabra, Pigeon Forge, TN (three
times).
q Magic2Motivate Seminars, Cocoa
Beach, FL. (twice).
q Las Vegas magic club
q Magic Success Seminars (four
times)
q Academy of Magical Arts,
Hollywood, CA. (three times).
q Glass City Conjurer’s Conclave,
Toledo, OH.
BJ
Hickman’s professional development presentations for
educators originated as a keynote or breakout session for health care
professionals called "PediaTRICKS." He teaches the use of tricks and
diversions to make children feel more comfortable and relaxed in the
doctor’s
office. He has presented "PediaTRICKS" at several conferences and
conventions including:
q The
22nd Annual Nursing Conference on Pediatric Primary Care in
Phoenix
q National Association of Pediatric
Nurse Associates and
Practitioners.
q The American Association for
Therapeutic Humor conference in
Nashville.
q Toledo Children's Hospital
Pediatric Emergency Conference.
q Boston University Goldman School
of Dental Medicine Division of
Continuing Education (twice).
